People who worked in nuclear weapons complexes came from diverse places and backgrounds, and many were members of local unions. When a worker files a claim for benefits under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), unions may be able to help with dates of employment, job descriptions and even the potential exposures to toxic or radioactive substances. In some instances, union representatives have been able to help people filing claims by finding co-workers who provided an affidavit to attest to a claimant’s dates of employment and type of work.
The following table provides union resources organized by the location of the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. If you are a worker or family member of a worker, these contacts may provide additional information for workers at “sister” unions and locals not listed here.
