Recipe Story:

Johnnie, who used to work at Pantex outside of Amarillo, Texas has always enjoyed cooking in her spare time. Even though Johnnie does like to cook up more complex recipes, she decided to submit the recipe for Yum Yum Salad because it is very easy to make with no cooking involved. Anybody can make this dish, she says. With the
bright green and red colors of the jello and the cherries, this dish is perfect for something simple and sweet to bring to a holiday party.

About Pantax Plant:

After WWII ended, Pantex plant operations ceased. From 1947–1951, Texas Tech University leased the acreage for agricultural research. In 1951 the Army reclaimed 10,000 acres, refurbished the plant and resumed operations. During the Cold War, Pantex assembled thousands of weapons and is still in operation as the nation’s primary facility for the final assembly, dismantlement and maintenance of nuclear weapons.
