Cold War Patriots members and their guests joined us for the third and fourth pit stops on our “Road Trip Through the Atomic Age” tour series, featured in the 2025 Cold War Patriots calendar. These tours took place at the Savannah River Site Museum in Aiken, South Carolina.
The Savannah River Site contributed significantly to national advancements in nuclear science and security, including Nobel Prize-winning research. For our members — especially those who worked at the plant during the Cold War — it was a powerful reminder of how their efforts helped shape history and drive innovation. The museum’s exhibits offered an up-close look at the pivotal role the Savannah River Plant played during the Cold War and beyond. One exhibit highlighted how the plant’s secretive operations impacted the surrounding community.
Visiting the Savannah River Site Museum was such a great experience, we did it twice! Photos from our local Cold War Patriots team capture members enjoying the exhibits and sharing their stories on both tour dates.
