The Department of Labor (DOL) has updated the Site Exposure Matrices (SEM). New information is now available for 24 DOE sites including the Mound Plant, DeSoto Avenue Facility, Idaho National Laboratory, Savannah River Site, and the Tonopah Test Range.

DOL received 40 public submittals related to toxic substances and diseases since the last update on May 16, 2017. Those submittals resulted in 11 SEM revisions including updates of the SEM profiles for Area IV of the Santa Susanna Field Laboratory and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. At the suggestion of a member of the public, DOL started reviews of the labor categories in the Department of Energy’s Comprehensive Epidemiologic Data Resource (CEDR). Since May 16, 2017, reviews of CEDR have been completed for six (6) DOE sites. The SEM profiles of each of those sites were updated with the results, including the Ames Laboratory, Kansas City Plant, and the Feed Materials Production Center.

Information provided by the DOL District Offices was used to update SEM data for six DOE sites including the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, and the Canoga Avenue Facility. A closure profile was developed and added to SEM for the Mound Plant to provide toxic profiles for workers involved with decommissioning, decontamination, demolition and related activities.”
