New Advisory Board to Hold First Meeting

The U.S. Secretary of Labor, Thomas Perez, has announced the establishment of the Advisory Board on Toxic Substances and Worker Health for Part E of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA).
By Charter, the advisory board must meet at least twice a year. It will hold its first meeting April 26-28 in Washington, D.C. at the Department of Labor (DOL) headquarters. The board consists of 15 members from the science, medical and claimant communities and will be responsible for advising the Secretary of Labor on a number of crucial issues and actions related to the program. The advisory board chairman is Steven Markowitz, M.D. from Queens College, CUNY School of Public Health.
The public is invited to listen to the meeting via teleconference. The last hour of the meeting each day will be reserved for public comments. The teleconference number will be posted no later than 72 hours before the start of the meeting and can be found here on the DOL website.
The times of the meeting will be:
Tuesday, April 26 – 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. EST, with public comments from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Wednesday, April 27 – 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. EST, with public comments from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday, April 28 – 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. EST, with public comments from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
