On February 22, 2019, Senator Udall from New Mexico sent a letter to Department of Labor (DOL) Secretary Alex Acosta expressing his strong concerns regarding the revised regulations which govern claims filed under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000.

Senator Udall’s concerns include specific recommendations by the DOL Advisory Board on Toxic Substance and Worker Health which about to have been ignored by the DOL. He also states concerns about the new rules making it harder for claimants to receive seamless care; as well as placing additional burdens on them when applying for certain types of care.
