Adjudication Process for EEOICPA Examined

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), recently published a report on the Department of Labor’s (DOL) decision-making process for Part E of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). The report found that “the adjudication process generally followed DOL’s guidance and procedures.” Notably, however, GAO found that there were errors or inconsistencies in about 10% of claims.
